Former U.S. Central marketer launches firm focused on collaboration


Olathe, Kan. – Former U.S. Central marketing veteran Michelle Young has launched a
marketing communications firm that assists corporate credit unions, credit unions, CUSOs and other credit union-affiliated organizations with creative marketing solutions. The company, marketShare, LLC, focuses on collaborating with credit union organizations to help strengthen credit union member value and loyalty.

One of the firm’s objectives is to help credit unions address current industry issues by
offering education material and mainstream marketing ideas to tackle everyday marketing challenges. Young also seeks cooperative relationships with CUSOs, corporates and other industry providers to ultimately enhance credit union membership and market share.


“Collaboration among credit union providers is a fundamental approach to helping the
community thrive,” Young said. “CUSOs, corporates, leagues, associations and third-party providers that help one another will experience more success than just going it alone. Individually, these organizations strive to ensure credit unions are meeting and/or exceeding member demands; when combined, those strengths can be leveraged to provide greater success for credit unions.”


marketShare offers comprehensive marketing communications services such as:
integrated marketing communications plans, tools and techniques; branding and brand reinvention; new product and Web promotions; and a variety of other marketing solutions. Unique to marketShare are customizable, ready-made toolkits based on seasonal offerings such as mortgage loan promotions for spring and skip-a-payment promotions for the holiday season.


Young also intends to let the credit union community help her plan future marketShare
offerings. “The organizations I partner with will know better than I what’s next for their businesses,” Young said. “I plan to let them take the lead on the types of services marketShare delivers in the future. Those I’m currently offering are in direct response to the imminent needs of the credit union community. As the industry evolves, so will my offerings.”


Young earned her credit union tenure at U.S. Central from July 1999 to June 2007
handling marketing strategies for the company and its CUSOs’ products and services. Prior to that, she directed consumer and commercial marketing initiatives for financial institutions including UMB Financial Corporation (Kansas City, Mo.) and Emprise Bank (Wichita, Kan.).


Awards recognizing Young’s achievements include several Public Relations Society of
America PRISM and Silver awards, International Association of Business Communicators Bronze Quill and Silver Quill awards, The Federal Credit Union magazine Advertisement of the Year award, and the Kansas City Direct Marketing Association award in consumer direct mail.
